The VIALAB Project
Among numerous technologies in the world of industrial automation, controls and mechatronics, machine vision represents the one with the strongest growth of interest in the recent period. That’s the primary focus of the project VIALAB whose mission is to create a lab and become an excellence point for the local industry facilitating the adoption and the deployment of computer vision.
Goals
The primary goals of the lab is to determine the needs of the local industry, classify and benchmark machine vision tools that are currently used. The outcome of these studies will be exploited to drive the development of new algorithms and methods, either based on SW or programmable logics, that intend to simplify the ease of use of the tools, bridge gaps, improve performance and cost.
People and Partnerships
VIALAB involves two important industrial groups, Datalogic and System, and two high technology centers, T3LAB and AERTECH-DEIS (University of Bologna), all based in Emilia Romagna region, Italy. Activities are carried out by a team of 7 young researchers under the supervision of the University of Bologna. Disclosure and spreading of project results is coordinated by CRIT Research™ through events like workshops and technology seminars.
